Terms of service
Effective October 24, 2026
These terms cover your use of Smallbooks, a bookkeeping service operated by Matthew Evans Consulting (“we”). By signing in, you agree to them.
Access
Smallbooks is invite-only. A business’s owner decides who can see its books and what each person can do, and can remove access at any time. Keep access to your email account secure, because sign-in codes are sent there.
Your data
A business’s books belong to that business. We use them only to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy. Owners can export their books at any time.
Acceptable use
- Use Smallbooks only for lawful bookkeeping and invoicing.
- Send invoices and reminders only to your own clients, never unsolicited email.
- Don’t try to reach other businesses’ data or interfere with the service.
We may suspend access that breaks these rules or puts the service at risk.
Your responsibility for your books
Smallbooks is a tool for keeping records. It does not give accounting, tax or legal advice. You are responsible for what you record, and should review your books and filings with a qualified professional.
The service
We work to keep Smallbooks available and your data safe, but provide it “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We may change or discontinue features. If we ever stop offering Smallbooks, we’ll give owners reasonable notice and time to export their books.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of Smallbooks.
Changes and contact
If these terms change, we’ll update the date above. Questions: matt@matthewevansconsulting.com.
